content plan is to take a look at the competition understanding which keywords your competitors are focusing on can clue you into areas where you may lack content or even missing out on potential customers and even if you don’t know who exactly your competitors are that’s no problem i’m gonna introduce you to a tool that can identify them for you let’s dive in the first summer’s tool i’m going to be showing you is our keyword gap tool this is a great tool that compares your site with your competitors and shows keywords that you share and most importantly the ones that you’re missing now this tool will actually suggest competitors here that you can compare your site to so even if you don’t have an exact idea of who to compare yourself to the tool takes care of that for you for example i’m going to be use l.com l is a fashion magazine and you can see here that the tool has suggested the website of other fashion magazines then click compare the keyword overlap visualization is a great way to get an
idea of how much or how little you share with your competitors and the keyword gap tool also provides a quick list of the top opportunities but let’s scroll down and take a look at the detailed list for the sake of creating a content plan let’s filter the results to only see keywords that are missing from your site let’s stop for a second because i really want you to understand how useful this is you’re seeing immediately which keywords you are don’t have on your website you’re not ranking for on your website and all your competitors are this is just basically a whole list of topics and keywords that you can immediately target you can also sort by traffic volume to help prioritize content topics by focusing on ones that are bringing significant traffic to your competition let’s refine even further and take a look at a list of keywords that we’re missing and our competitors are ranking in a top 10 position for now let’s select a few keywords and add
them to a new keyword list clicking on a keyword is going to take us to the keyword overview tool this tool shows helpful stats about that particular keyword such as search volume and difficulty score the questions section can provide very useful insights into the questions people are asking about your keyword again i need to stop this is so huge you need to understand i need to highlight this these are questions that people are already asking about the keyword that you want to target basically the people are giving you content ideas how great is that understanding what information people are searching for what questions they want answered can guide your content writing your content should provide valuable information to people asking this question add these keywords to your keyword list clicking on the name of your keyword list is going to bring you directly to the keyword manager tool well all of the keywords are compiled along with key metrics and let me add that in keyword manager you can always update
to get the freshest data available which is usually the same day’s data so it’s always the freshest information you can get all of these different metrics can help you organize and more importantly prioritize which topics to go after first pay close attention to the click potential column this metric tells you how likely it is that people will actually click on your content so there you have it you can use this list as your master list for content creation and use the different filtering options to choose which content to create first and i’m actually gonna go even further and show you how samurais can actually help you write the actual content so once we have decided all of this what are we gonna do very easy we’re gonna go and write our content and we’re gonna do it in the seo writing assistant which is in our content marketing dashboard this tool allows you to check your content against seo best practices and get recommendations for writing the
best content i’m going to pull now an article from one of my earlier examples competitors and use it to show you how the seo writing assistant works and we’re gonna write it right here we enter the right keywords that are purple shampoo how does purple shampoo work what is purple shampoo and my database it is in the us i’m gonna click on get recommendations and we see that this is a good content so good job harper’s bazaar we get suggestions on the red ability of the content we get seo suggestions which keywords we should actually use i’m going to show you this in real life for example something that we should use is sulfate free formula so how does sulfate free work and you can see that the keyword became immediately green because we are using something that is helpful right now and that is related to the content that we searched for and the tool already gives us the keywords that we should be using it gives us also suggestions on the tone of voice seo originality you can check of course it’s gonna come out that i copied all of it because i did but this is just to show you of course that you can even check if your content is 100 original but that’s it by following these steps you’ll be easily able to create a content plan and even actually start writing some of the content so if you haven’t yet please subscribe to this channel hit the like button and activate the notification bell to see more videos on how to make the most of your online marketing and if you want to suggest some topics to make videos on please leave a comment in the comment section below i’ll catch you guys in the next video bye
hey everyone in today’s video i want to show you the top five video conferencing platforms and apps that are available to you right now and what i want to do with this video is i want to show you a brief overview of each one how to join a meeting how to create a meeting i want to show you some of the plans that each one has every single one has a free option and has paid upgrades and i’ll explain to you why you may want to get the free upgrade and i do have complete tutorials on every single one of these so i’ll put all of those in the description below this video so if any of them caught your attention and you want to learn all about it go ahead and check out those independent videos now at the end of the video i’ll show you a list of other video conferencing platforms that i find useful beyond the five but just to make this video somewhat short i’ll just focus on the top five let’s start with the one that had the most massive growth in 2020 and the one that most people used and that is zoom now zoom is a video conferencing and video meeting platform and it’s available at
zoom.us and you could also get the app which is available for pcs and macs and there is an app for ios and android again i covered those different apps in different videos on zoom zoom has a free option that lets you have a video meeting with up to 100 people and there is a limitation on the length of time you can have a meeting of 40 minutes so the reason why you would want to upgrade to a paid zoom is because if you want more than 40 minutes without getting kicked off of your meeting you are going to want to upgrade for one-on-one meetings you don’t have to worry about the 40-minute limit though the paid upgrade also lets you get some cloud space so you could record your meeting to the cloud the free version lets you record your meeting to your computer’s local hard drive so that’s another benefit of the paid version of zoom now each zoom meeting allows you to do many many things like sharing your screen sharing videos that are playing on your computer with
audio you could use what’s called a zoom white board where you could go ahead and draw with markers and pens and pencils and other people could see that drawing on a whiteboard and you could even create breakout rooms which are very beneficial and when you schedule a meeting in advance you could even pre-assign those breakout rooms so when a meeting starts all the breakout rooms are already there i have about a dozen different zoom videos on this channel so if you want to learn more about that i’ll put the playlist there it shows you how to use any one of those things i just mentioned second on our list is microsoft teams and that also grew very very rapidly in 2020 and beyond and microsoft added a lot of new useful options to teams now teams is beyond what you’ve seen with zoom and other video conferencing platform because team is an all-in-one communication platform so the virtual meeting the video conferencing is just one small part of microsoft teams microsoft teams also has chat and
many other options within teams i have a different teams tutorial to show you all of those right now let’s focus on the virtual conferencing of microsoft teams now microsoft’s team’s free plan at the time that i’m recording this includes up to 300 participants and up to 60 minutes now this does change all the time in fact all these platforms that i’m mentioning do change how big and how long your meetings could be so check out all the resources in the description for the latest numbers at the time i’m recording this 300 people 60 minute limit and with teams you also could schedule meetings in advance you could go ahead and create your own meeting and share a meeting and join a meeting very very easily like the other platforms you could also screen share you could also customize your background with virtual backgrounds but from what i could see on their platform you do have to upgrade to record your meeting that is not available with the free plan next is google meet and google meet is a video meeting platform from google that
is free to use but this is where the confusion took place at least in the comment section of my videos with google meet there’s two different places you can have a meeting there’s meet.google.com and it’s a web-based meeting platform so you don’t need to download anything like the other apps require you to download something or the web-based version is not the native way of using it they really want you to get the app google meets even though it has a really good ios and android app you could also use it at meet.google.com just on a browser and it’s completely free again up to 60 minutes and up to 100 participant at the time i’m recording this but it is really intended for personal use there’s a whole different thing from google called google workspace and that has google meet in that too designed for people that are using it for work and that is a paid plan so a little bit of confusion that i’ve seen in the comments of my videos there’s google meet that is at meet.google.com for personal
use up to 100 people on a 60 minute limit and there is something called google workspace that has google me in it but it’s a bundle for all of google’s productivity tools like google drive and google meet and google calendar but what’s available with google workspace is you get a lot of things bundled in for one price not just google meets so if you’re using it for work i recommend taking a look at google workspace if you’re using it for personal use you could just use meet.google.com now next is cisco webex and what’s unique about webex is there’s kind of two different platforms with webex you have webex meetings that is a browser-based platform you could just use that online at the webex website and then you have something called webex teams webex teams is kind of like microsoft teams where it’s not just about video conferencing it’s an all-in-one communication platform for chat and sharing files and really a complete kind of a solution
to working remote but we’ll focus on the virtual meeting section of it for now and again the free version of webex lets you have meetings with up to 100 participants with a 55-0 minute time limit at the time of this recording webex also has all the great features like breakout rooms they have virtual backgrounds you could record to your computer with the free option and if you get the paid option you get a lot of cloud storage space that you could record your video to the cloud makes it easier to share that way and there are some interesting things within the webex teams platform where you could raise your hand great for classrooms for example you could take polls within the meeting you could take notes and you could screen share and a lot more and next you have skype and skype especially in 2020 really added a lot of features and revamped how it works so you could use skype.com to actually meet with people now without having to download anything but there’s a really solid skype
app for mac pc ios and android as well now what’s unique about skype is skype had a different model for business it was called skype for business but it is no longer available because that part is now built into microsoft teams so this version of skype that i’m mentioning now is really for personal use if you want skype for business you just use microsoft teams which we already went over and here’s a whole bunch of other video conferencing platforms that i did not mention in this video and you could research any one of them on this list here and this is just really the tip of the iceberg there’s so many video conferencing platforms but these are just some of the ones that i have complete tutorials on and some of the other ones that i found useful so i wanted to kind of create this video to give you all your options here but again there is a lot more and you could research that i hope you found this useful again everything we talked about including complete tutorials on separate platforms are linked below this video in the description section so you don’t have to really search around everything is in one place and i just wanted to make it a little bit easier for you to do your own research here thanks again and i’ll see you next time
hi everybody this is Liam Martin and in today’s video we’re going to be talking about the 21 essential rules for managing a remote team as defined by me Liam from time dr. let’s get into it tip number one you really have to compensate for the fact that you’re not bumping into each other on a daily basis if you’re running a remote team so time doctor has 80 plus employees in 27 different countries all over the world from Canada to Nigeria we have employees everywhere all over the planet and it’s a huge advantage in some capacities but it’s also huge a huge disadvantage in other capacities and one of the biggest ones is that you’re really not just bumping into people that inside of your organization like you would if everyone was locally located so inside of virtual teams you have to really compensate for that natural bumping into people which
is what produces a lot of magic inside of tech startups as an example and very fast-moving companies where you’ll have that intermingling of people that will be able to produce interesting new ideas and insights that you wouldn’t have otherwise had so with that said I’m going to go on to tip number two which is I suggest that you have a chat room open constantly we call it the water cooler inside of our chat so we have one in Skype and we have one inside of the slack and can that basically is a room that you can you can talk about anything that you want to talk about if you want to talk about your kids graduation if you want to talk about a different coding system if you want to talk about the latest episode of Game of Thrones you can do that in that water-cooler chatroom and it really creates that sort of bump naturalized bumping into that you would
have had inside of a local organization it just gives you that little small talk that people need to get that bump those bumps and then also more importantly to be able to give them deeper insights into people that you wouldn’t have otherwise had if you were if you just didn’t have access to that type of chat in the first place tip number three you have to be really wary of email and chat overload particularly in remote businesses so this is a problem inside of brick-and-mortar businesses but it’s even worse inside of remote businesses because you get a lot more email and you get a lot more chat messages so you have to be wary of that you have to understand and encourage your employees to turn off their chat and turn off their email when they’re finished with their workday as an example so they’re not answering emails at 3 o’clock in the morning like I was today unfortunately good morning good morning you need to really make sure that that stuff is
controlled because otherwise that works into every aspect of their lives and makes them more unhappy and at the end of the day less productive employees tip number four I talked about the levels of importance as it applies to communication so video is the most important level of communication then it is audio then it is chat then it is email in that order so if you can always have video chats with people you can tell video chat have an audio call with somebody you can’t have an audio call have a live chat with them and if you can’t do that then go to email that’s the way you should be basically orienting yourself inside of the organization it’s really important to make sure that you have those levels because email is very slow video is very fast so if you need something done quickly and efficiently video is probably the best way to do it tip number five if you can’t do a video chat with somebody one of the best ways
to communicate exactly what you need done is through video or visualization communication tools so I use a tool called Jing and what innocence allows you to do is you can draw a box on your computer screen and people give you five minutes for free it gives you unlimited data if you’re if you pay the five dollars a month or something like that for Jing and you’ll be able to record a screen capture of exactly what you want done inside of your company so let’s say that you want some edits done to a particular website well you can do a video outlining exactly what you want done and why something wasn’t done correctly or was done correctly and the old adage of pictures worth a thousand words while the video is worth like a hundred thousand words that’s why we’re doing video right now as well to be able to communicate to you like this you need to make sure that your as information
rich is humanly possible and you communicate so if you can’t do a video call use one of these video tools like Jing to be able to really get more richness into an email or a chat message that you’re going to send tip number six video conferencing technology is printable because as I said before video is the most information rich form of communication that you can have inside of your little team so what I suggest you do is if your budget is quite low get on skype skype is free if you have a little bit more of a budget zoom is more expensive but much better as a tool to be able to work and collaborate through video with coworkers that are remote and even if you want to get started very quickly and easily something like Google Apps will have a Google Hangouts feature inside of Google Apps that you can use like a zoom or a Skype so any of
those three options are absolutely fantastic if you’re looking at increasing your video communication or you haven’t made that decision yet and you really want to actually deploy one of these tools inside of your organization tip number nine what you need to do is set up a meeting rhythm what doesn’t get measured doesn’t get managed and if you’re not meeting with people on a set time to a set rhythm then people can get very distracted and they’re not focused on executing on their work so what I would suggest that you do is you either set up a daily meeting with people a weekly meeting with people or a biweekly meeting with people I think that you should not be meeting with people less than once a week if you end up meeting with people monthly you just won’t get anything done and they may go in a completely separate direction that you didn’t really intend them to go in so make sure that it’s
either daily bi-weekly or weekly and make sure that that meeting you have very clear identifiable goals that everyone needs to meet we call them KPIs and you then need for them to give you a report on where their current KPIs are basically what they did last week what they’re planning on doing next week and any blockers or issues that they need to report back to you so that you can help solve that problem for them and if you can execute on that you’ll have a beautiful meeting rhythm you just need to be able to keep that reliability inside of you zatia tip number 10 you need effective collaboration on documents and spreadsheets and I would suggest that you use Google Apps it’s really easy there are virtual documents but whatever documents you’re trying to use make sure that they are in the cloud so that you can edit them live so all of these different employees can go into a single document and then you can add and delete information you can edit information you
can see the different versions you can see what people have added and what people have taken away as an example Google Apps does this beautifully it’s very cheap but there are plenty of other products on the market like Apple also has a version of this and then Microsoft also has a version of this type of these types of applications that you can use so whatever you’re using it doesn’t really matter as long as they are in the cloud and collaborative it’s absolutely critical if you’re going to run a remote team tip number 11 set up a project management system and actually use it and blown away with people who constantly do not use their project management systems and for us it’s so important in a remote organization to make sure that everything is documented because when stuff is in your head it unfortunately can’t be communicated to the rest of the organization and you need to keep even comparison to a local organization where you’ll have a lot of just the general communication that happens saying oh yeah I put out that memo or yeah I solve that problem isn’t
communicated inside of a remote organization because you’re not having those natural bumps and communication sort of happenstance that you would have in a local organization so you need a project management system you need to use it religiously and everything needs to go into that project management system I would suggest something like asana Basecamp there’s a couple other JIRA as an example is another one that’s really great for development and there’s a ton of other project management tools on the market you just have to choose one and actually execute on putting stuff into it and making sure that your team is answerable to putting stuff inside of that project management tool if they’re not doing it you’re losing millions of dollars not by doing it tip number 12 you’ve got to implement systems this is one of the biggest problems that I see when people are working remotely you must have processes inside of your organization if you have a remote business so I’ll give you a perfect
example we’re making these videos right now there’s a process for how the video is edited how the video is exported do we have an Instagram story 15-second snippet that we also pull outside of that initial edit inside a final cut do we use a multicam or do we use a single camera system how does the audio look have you checked for audio are we gonna promote it in the right way what are the tags underneath that video what do we write underneath that video is this integrated inside of a blog post or not we have these checklists in these processes and it’s really important that you have these processes inside of your organization because if you’re making one video not that big of a deal if you’re making a hundred videos it’s a big deal you need to have those processes in place otherwise just systems breakdown and people don’t actually know what the heck they’re supposed to be doing so implementing systems is super easy I got a video about systems that I’m gonna link right up here that you can check out and again systems get them up and running guys
it’s just you’re you’re literally losing millions and millions of dollars by not implementing stuff like this tip number 13 it’s really important to deploy flexible work hours as long as there is consistency so our mission statement as a company is we want to empower workers to work wherever they want whenever they don’t so we don’t really care where you worked or how long you worked as long as you got the job done we’ll focus on efficiency not necessarily how long somebody worked that’s not a very good measure of productivity so a part of that is having people to basically gain access to flexible work agreements inside of our company and we highly suggest that you also engage in that as well but you need to be able to make sure that there is some consistency and we usually put this around our meetings so you must show up for meetings at a particular time and if
you’re not showing up for those meetings it’s a big issue other than that you do what you want if you want to work from three o’clock in the morning till six o’clock in the morning every day go ahead and do it as long as you’re productive and you’re putting out good results so make sure that you’re giving people that freedom to have their own flexible work hours but we keep some consistency keep those touch points of those meetings every single day or every week as an example so that they understand that they have to show up and they have a report that they have to submit saying and if they did and what they plan on doing next day or next week tip number I think I’m on number 1617 something like I’m just gonna forget about it there’s 21 tips so you gotta track work hours attendants and other basic basic measures of productivity so we allow people to work wherever they want whenever they want and it’s really important that they’re measuring how much time they’re putting inside of the business and what the results what
results they are getting when they do that particular type of work so if you have a customer support agent that’s much more productive than another support agent and they’re doing exactly the same amount of work they need to figure out why was that support agent more productive than that other support agent and the only way that you can do that is by tracking the amount of time that you worked when you attended work and other basic measures of productivity so as an example we use time doctor for that obviously because that’s our company I measure all of the websites applications most movements and keyboard movements that I do inside of our company I got a laptop right here it’s currently tracking this particular task which is shooting a video and at the end of this I’ll be able to figure out how efficiently I executed on doing that particular task inside of the organization and whether my time that I spent was actually productive to the company centrally important when you’re building remote
teams to be able to have that type of documentation next tip is you’ve got to have overlapping hot zones of communication time when it applies to time zones so I’ll give you an example we usually have meetings on Thursdays and on Mondays which we call our all prints meetings so we have to do two of them we used to do one but we just have too many people and too many different time zones so we have one on Thursdays for everyone who is on the Manila time zone and then we have one on Mondays for people that are on the New York Times own and we do those every single week and someone has to report to one of those two meetings every single week it is a requirement and that allows people to have that single touch point to know that hey there are other people inside of the company here’s what they’re doing here’s what their lives are about and it really does give you that sense of community that usually you’re lacking
inside of remote organizations that you want to take advantage of next tip do a quarterly review of how your teammates are doing a lot of people call these 360 reviews you can just google that the 360 review is going to give you a lot of great information like what are your co-workers think of this particular worker what does your manager think of that particular worker what is that worker think of their manager stuff 360 review it’s giving you a whole bunch of different variables to that particular worker and it’s critically important we do them quarterly and it’s a really great way for us to figure out okay what are you good at what are you not good at how can you improve and then measure that for over to make sure that those employees are gonna be a lot more productive in the long term so in combination with something very granular like measuring how hard they’re working and how efficiently they’re working we also measure things like a 360 quarterly review so that we know ok how do people perceive at this employee inside of the organization and what are their
advantages or disadvantages next tip you got a test employees with short term work before hiring them full time so my perspective is I got to work with you before I can work with you so we’ll usually hire people on very short projects we’re gonna hire somebody brand-new we’ll usually hire two people for that position and we’ll hire them on part-time and they’ll basically give them both the same tasks over a one-month period and you can very quickly and easily understand who is really great versus who isn’t so good so a lot of the times we’ll have someone that will have a fantastic resume but then when we end up actually working with them in person they can’t actually execute and that happens a lot so you need to be able to hire those two people hire them on part-time if you can and really understand where they’re at because having that small little project can completely change your perspective of those initial resumes that you had
come in next tip is pay virtual team members very well if you’re hiring in developing countries you can usually get a absolutely fantastic labor at very cost-effective prices and it’s a huge advantage to you to be able to just pay that person 10 20 30 % higher than the market rate in their particular country you’re still getting a fantastic deal and they are getting a much higher salary they’re gonna be more loyal and they’re gonna be a lot more relaxed about what they’re doing with with their work and the organization’s work so I’m blown away by people that are just gonna penny pinch someone who’s making a thousand dollars a month as an example and in comparison to San Francisco you’d be paying $10,000 a month for the same type of work pay them 1200 make them very happy and they’ll be very successful long-term workers with you over the next couple years next if it’s really important that you hire people that are the right fit
for virtual work so instead of time doctor we actually have a virtual work fit kind of test that we deploy and that’s deployed before we actually look at they’re a real resume so a couple things that you can kind of just pull off the top usually remote workers are on the introverted side of the spectrum they’re okay with working alone if they constantly have to be working with other people virtual work environments are probably not the best environment for them they need to be people that are very detail-oriented and also people that need to take that can take independent action on particular tasks without really feeling intimidated that they’re making the wrong decision from their manager so taking that in consideration really look for those types of people inside of your organization and if you’ve got them then it’s it’s a really easy way for you to say okay this is the model that we already have we know that
there are people that are fit that are a really great fit inside of our organization and then try to have those people interview the other employees inside of your company that you want to hire or are looking to hire and ask them hey you know are those people like you are they the same type of people and if they aren’t then you’re probably gonna run into a problem last tip I’m going to give you is it’s really important to meet in person so we have team retreats for our entire organization at least once per year and then we have smaller meetings that we do throughout the year and it’s so important for a virtual team to meet in person at least once number one it’s a great employee perk to have everybody fly into Thailand or fly into Bali or tight fly into Bulgaria or somewhere like that they all love it secondarily the context that you’ll get from those two to three days of everyone being in the same place is huge people
will now know the nonverbal cues that different co-workers have they’ll be able to understand what kind of food they like what kind of movies they like what kind of TV shows they’re like what type of beer they’d like to drink and those extra little details are huge when you look at the long-term ROI of building a successful remote business so meet in person I meet in person with my team every single year I actually meet in person with my team more than once per year and the team loves it I highly suggest you take advantage of it so that was my 21 tips on how to manage virtual teams I think I think I had 21 tips in there if you have a tip please put it down in the comments below so that I know what the heck you guys want to talk about and maybe I’ll add back into this particular video or maybe I’ll make another one in the future and if you hitted this video give it a thumbs down if you really like this video give it a thumbs up and other than that I will see you in the next video
[Music] remember when monday mornings were like [Music] this they’re a bit different now [Music] while those of us lucky to be working are now doing so from a spare bedroom or kitchen table the coronavirus has forced a sudden and mostly successful pivot to working away from the office while the circumstances are unwelcome there are some benefits to this style of working you have a more content workforce more motivated workforce and and also a more productive and efficient workforce as well so when the coronavirus is behind us will our workday ever be the same again [Music]
we spend a lot of our time traveling to work and for most the commute is getting longer all over the world globally two-fifths of professionals consider the commute to be the worst part of their day commuting has been found to be a major cause for stress that impacts on our physiological health and as well well-being the total working day gets longer you get less time at home you do less exercises when you have long commutes you also cook less healthy food i followed swedish couples over a 10-year period and we found that commuting long distances to work over one hour increases the risk of separation overall we find that it’s a 40 increase of risk of separating before the pandemic approximately 25
million u.s workers spent more than 90 minutes getting to and from their jobs every day in south korea one in four workers has a journey that long one of those people is park john pan a manager at a major telecoms company basically i throw away three hours of my day time just to get to work and to come back home since february sk telecom has instructed its employees including yong han to work from home or if suitable to work from smaller local offices in the surrounding neighborhoods of seoul one of the mobile offices if i walk it takes about 15 minutes i truly appreciate the time and and it actually comes back to motivation to to work harder it’s not just time it’s a very quality time that i spent instead of you know getting stuck in a bus you know get stuck in a traffic somewhere it’s it cannot compare the amount of time that i spent with my
family really increased you know during lunch time i can have lots of time with my son have you just shortened your hours and you’re able to go and like you said exercise more or do you find yourself working more as a result because it’s been too long i totally forgot about it but in the very beginning when this program started um i was exhausted actually uh during the first few days because there is no place for for rest right because i i need to work anywhere wherever i go um my mind was always on work and when i talked to the teammates they actually felt the same in the beginning but after a few weeks um i i think everyone found their own way to work and now i know how to adjust you know myself into you know work mode versus you know rest mode and so on so losing that journey into work could
be good for us but research claims our commute can also provide us with a means to separate our personal and professional lives and in a world of 10 second bed to laptop commutes that’s a chance for some me time but while journey times were already generally on the up more of us were actually starting to commute less thanks to a relatively new trend flexible working increasingly we have seen people remote working from lots of different locations there has been a reluctance to encourage flexible working perhaps because managers see it as a loss of control it can be quite difficult to manage people who you don’t necessarily see on a day-to-day basis there might be concerns around efficiency or productivity and is that a bit of a myth or is any of that borne out in fact what we’ve found is that productivity
can actually improve as a result of flexible working and there isn’t necessarily any impact upon the business if it’s managed effectively there’s quite a lot of benefits there is an opportunity for workers to have more autonomy over their scheduling over when they work and where they work and when people have that degree of autonomy it does lead to a workforce that is happier you may have flexibility over the time that you have to go into work or the time that you can come home so that you’re able to avoid rush hour traffic and if you’re working from home a few days a week or completely at home then obviously you can avoid the commuting altogether and there’s also benefits for employers a study by harvard and new york university found that for those working from home the workday is 48 minutes longer probably replacing that time you spent commuting there’s significant benefits for organizations
that are able to manage these kind of processes effectively so what actions can organizations implement to harness the power of flexible working they need to have very clear processes and procedures around operating flexible work so that everybody has the same expectations one department allows um the majority of their employees to work flexibly in another department which is led by another line manager who has a different view then you might find that flexible working isn’t as supported as much you need to treat people consistently and in a fair way but you also need to recognize that there can be individual differences in how people adapt to flexible working it will some suit some people but not others so you do need to have a degree of flexibility yourself as a manager in how you manage teams and how you manage people and this flexibility can lead to
productivity a two-year stanford study of a thousand employees at one company found that working from a home office resulted in a 13 increase in productivity and 50 percent of them were less likely to quit despite this half of them still wanted to go back to the office nine months later even though their average commute was 40 minutes each way another survey conducted by bain and company on its own employees found that productivity increased for some thanks to no commute and an ability to focus better at home but also decreased for others due to a lack of work mindset and a dedicated workspace so perhaps we’ll start to see a more hybrid style become the norm where for some days we work from home for specific solo tasks and others we travel to the office to meet and collaborate with the team the changing nature of our working lives has already led to many white collar workers leaving the city or moving
further out to find more space some greenery or to escape the urban beeps and bustle one person who misses the commute is alice shea an urban planner and designer i miss riding the subway uh riding the subway is one of those incredible experiences in new york city it’s got a ties it’s got its lows but honestly the subway system in new york city is one of the greatest levers for equity that we have it is one price to get all the way across the city many of us are now working from home you know or at least for a couple of days of the week will where we live drastically change do you think we’re in a moment where commutes can be zero so what does that mean for how we are distributed across our settlements and urban agglomerations i think it provides a lot of flexibility for certain workers it’s true but there’s other ties that keep people to place right it’s not just about commute so that’s one factor amongst many access to services access to family um
access to the you know the culture that keeps the city alive or your lifestyle interesting so the the city as we know it isn’t exactly going anywhere but uh it might change in the way that we use it and the the way it works our uh street infrastructure and streetscapes can be reconfigured in a time of social distancing when we’re understanding that private cars may not be as essential as we thought they were we posited that if you took the streetscape in manhattan which is equivalent to four times the size of central park reconfigured it in a way that actually looked at streetscapes as being about space for mobility and distribution at a bigger scale so how do we actually decrease the number of cars and what are the opportunities that come with that so increased space for pedestrians and walking more effective uh distribution systems buses could run at least twice as fast getting people around the city in an equitable way
the transformation of the way that we use our streetscapes could also enable better delivery of urban systems is there an opportunity to to build more equality in cities you know key workers for instance who who aren’t doing jobs on a laptop right now they have to be in those areas don’t they you know no matter what i mean you bring up a great point service workers essential workers they are geographically bound mobile healthcare could be distributed more widely more equitably particularly if there’s government and public drivers behind the way that that is distributed we’re also seeing massive changes in the way that retail is happening right many many shops are closed when we have times when cities are more porous when there’s flux when you know real estate sector isn’t so saturated that porousness allows for an opportunity for micro entrepreneurship and also um new innovations
at a kind of small scale um you know small businesses that are starting up food trucks that are going to be distributing food across the city um different types of services that operate in different types of places [Music] our changing relationship with work could affect where we live too it could accelerate and move to what’s known in urban planning theory as the polycentric city polycentric city would be a place where you can work you can live you can recreate you can have your social life your family in a more local and distributed way in cities like paris it’s known as the 15-minute city where daily necessities are within a 15-minute reach on foot or by bike you reduce transit times you reduce ghg emissions and also you provide more equitable more sustainable access to services by this more distributed city model but that’s not to say that you need to live in the suburbs right
so what’s to say the office can’t come closer to us i think going forward companies will need to support workers in that externality um and it could take many forms does everyone want to work from home no some people like going to a place commuting how are companies that usually would say come to your our main office oh now actually we have a set of sponsored co-working spaces across the city that are closer to where you live and can decrease your commute and maybe you go to those spaces three days a week and you come into the office too i think we’re going to see a whole range of new types of work as people have gained confidence in the efficiency of work from home during this time [Music] since the virus outbreak serviced office brand regis has already seen a surge of more than 40 in activity in new york city commuter hub southern connecticut in the uk house builders are seeing
developments outside of london driven by a change in home office working while experiences and jobs vary all over the world many workers have come to expect change more than 90 percent of people in a recent survey said they wouldn’t return to the office full time after covid there’s reasons for employers to embrace the change too some already are twitter and facebook have said the switch could become permanent for large parts of their workforce the covert 19 pandemic has sent shock waves through the world of work having an on-off relationship with the office could make us happier and more productive while also helping the environment and making our cities more livable you
hey friends welcome back to the channel today we’re doing something really exciting and we’re ranking all of the world’s most popular productivity techniques in order of how effective how useful how life-changing they are i’ve been reading all of the productivity books under the sun for the last decade or so and some of these techniques are useful and some of them are a bit crap and so we’re going to be using the standard tier list ranking system that youtubers have been using for all sorts of other things uh we’re going to be using that taylor system for this productivity list so the tiers that we’re going to play with are as follows we start with the s tier these are the absolutely life-changing productivity methods that you literally cannot live without then we have a for essential these are really really really useful that will really impact your life but they’re not actually going to make a life or death difference then we have b which is like useful and nice to know but not massively going to move the needle we’ve got c which is nice to have technique that might be useful in specific situations and then we’ve got d which are techniques that might work for other people but that don’t really work for me and then we have e and f which are totally useless and utter junk respectively let’s start with technique number one which is the pomodoro technique now the vibe here is that you want to work for 25 minutes and then have a five minute break work for 25
5-minute break and repeat this four times and after four repetitions then you get to have a half an hour long break now the pomodoro technique is an absolute classic that’s been used mostly by students as a way of motivating themselves to work and i certainly used to use it back when i was at university but the problem with the pomodoro technique is that for me i often felt like i was just getting into the swing of things at around the 25 minute mark and so when i would have to stop working to have a break i would find that that would interrupt my flow state and so for me i actually tend to work for about 40 or 45 minutes if it’s something that i’m enjoying working on i find that is the ideal amount of time to get me into the flow state and so it’s a bit controversial but i’m gonna rank the pomodoro technique a c on our tier list next we’ve got the concept of delegation now tim ferriss talks about this a lot in the four hour work week which is one of the books that mode that’s most changed my life and recently i’ve heard entrepreneur and investor naval ravikhan talk about the idea of setting an aspirational hourly rate and the idea here is that we should figure out what is our time worth to us personally in like dollar amounts and then if there is stuff that we’re doing that we don’t enjoy then we can think about delegating
it to someone else if it is cheaper than the amount that we set as our aspirational hourly rate so i’m going to give delegation a tier ranking because it’s generally an essential tip and if you haven’t started valuing your time at a certain dollar amount i’d recommend you at least give it a go because it’s a useful thought exercise next on the list we have the two minute rule now this was popularized by david allen in the book getting things done and the idea behind the two-minute rule is that if there is something that you need to do and that something is going to take less than two minutes then you should do it right now rather than add it to your to-do list now the two-minute rule is actually like really really really really useful i just don’t do it very much because i’m a bit of a waste man and so i’ve got to give it a rating of a d because normally if i have something like replying to an email or replying to a whatsapp message that actually would take less than two minutes i would love to actually do it there and then but generally i just think oh i’ll get to this some other time and then it just ends up you know people following up following up following up hundreds of hundred messages and whatsapp apologies to anyone who’s tried to email or message me in the last like two years but i really do suck at replying to messages because i don’t apply the two minute rule next on the list we have the two
day rule now this is something from my friend and fellow productivity youtuber matt diabeta after eight years of attempting to put weight on ever since high school and failing miserably i implemented the two-day rule it’s very simple i would not allow myself to take off more than one day in a row for some kind of workout be it the gym a jog or a hike i had to do some kind of physical activity at least every other day this allowed me the time to take days off as i needed it often multiple days a week but it also kept me committed to my goal and most importantly it prevented me from falling into a slump and neglecting my health for weeks or even months at a time and i really like the two-day rule because it’s an alternative approach to sticking to your schedule that offers a little bit more leeway i tried using the two-day rule at one point back when i was working out at the gym fairly regularly and i found it didn’t quite work for me because i’m not as uh on the workout hype as matt is and so instead what i found was useful for me was having an accountability buddy in a personal trainer and so i’d end up working to working out two or three times a week and so the two-day rule is
awesome and i know a lot of people who use it but because i don’t personally use it at all it’s gonna have to go on the d ranking on our tier list next we have the concept of time blocking now this is basically where you block out a certain amount of time for a particular task or project and ideally you stick it in the calendar and so when that time comes around you actually end up doing the thing now this is going to get an a rating from me i think this is an absolutely essential tip the day i started using a calendar was the day that my productivity basically 2xed overnight because i was now using a calendar because normally like i find for me i don’t know about you but like for me when i have an empty gap on my calendar at that point i think oh i could do all these different things and i end up kind of paralyzed by the amount of different things i could be doing whereas when i have a slot in my calendar where a in which there is a defined task at that point i know what i should be doing in that time and if i want to do something else i can choose to do it but at least i’ve got my default option and this has been an absolute game changer for my productivity it’s not just me that swears by time looking people like elon musk and bill gates and author cal newport also used time blocking quite a lot and they’ve written and talked extensively about how it’s the best thing ever next on the list we have the
five-minute rule now the five-minute rule is that if we are struggling with procrastinating on a big task or a project we just tell ourselves we’re just gonna do it for five minutes actually i have a five minute hourglass on my desk back in cambridge that if i’m struggling with doing something i’ll just turn the hourglass over and i will genuinely convince myself that i’m only gonna do it for five minutes and this works really well we’ve got to give this probably a b it’s not like absolutely essential but it works really really nicely because the way procrastination works is that procrastination is generally a failure in getting started with the thing and once we’ve gotten started with the thing you know newton’s first law the law of inertia then our momentum will generally carry us on through it and we can start having fun with doing the task but we have to get started and so i think about it as either just just doing it for two minutes or just doing it for five minutes and i think that’s a tip that’s really helped me combat my own tendencies towards procrastination next on the list we’ve got systems now this is something that james clear the author of atomic habits talks about quite a lot and the distinction here is between goals and systems so goals are that you know the goal that we want to achieve but systems are the process and the
thing that we do to get to the goal and focusing on systems is actually an amazingly useful productivity tip and in fact this is going to get the s life-changing ranking from me because i often find that if i’m trying to get anything done if i focus on the goal and i fixate on the goal generally the thing won’t get done but if i think about what what system can i build what can i do right now what’s the process i can follow to do the thing then the thing will get done and if you hear interviews with anyone who’s like uber productive like you know world-class athletes and authors and stuff the thing they always swear by is the system of training or the system of practice that they follow rather than having a goal like everyone who does any kind of sport wants to do really well on it and everyone who’s in the olympics wants to win gold but and so just having the goal is not enough it’s actually more about what is the system that gets you there next up we have the daily highlight now this is another thing that’s going to get the s life-changing ranking and this is probably the single most useful single productivity tip i’ve ever come across in my life and the idea behind the daily highlight is just every single day we decide what is the one thing i want to get done today and then we just make sure we do that thing and this can be something productive like complete
chapter of my book proposal or it can be something completely unproductive i.e not work like hang out with friends or like call my grandma it could be anything like that but the idea here is that if for every single day of the year we could actually just do the single most important thing that we want to get done that day that genuinely would change the needle for our productivity and also for our life and so we’re going to give the daily highlight an s ranking on the tier list next up we’ve got the technique of batching again something that tim ferriss talks a lot about in the four hour work week the idea being that if you have tons and tons of emails instead of checking email throughout the day at different times you check email all at once all at the same time or for example like i’m doing today instead of filming a youtube video every day i film four videos in a single day and then i have the other three days off this is batching it’s pretty good it works on a lot of things it’s not like massively life-changing and therefore i’m gonna give it a c ranking on our tier list all right let’s speed up through these a little bit more next on the list we have color coding uh which my friend noah kagan uses quite a lot the idea here is that you color code your calendar depending on what category the task is in so self-care stuff gets a different color and work stuff gets a different
color and life stuff gets a different color i don’t personally use it myself so this is going to get a d ranking next on the list we have to-do lists nothing much needs to be said there i don’t really like the idea of to-do lists instead i call like my to-do list a my to-do list and so when i figure out what i’m doing for the day yes i do the daily highlight that’s the one thing that i swear by because that’s the one thing i absolutely have to get done but then everything else falls under the might do list this is stuff that uh if i feel like it if i if i want to be bothered to do the thing then i will just check things off the list and often i have just so much stuff on there that i’m never going to get around to doing but that’s fine because as long as the most important things are being done each day thanks to the daily highlight i don’t really need to overly worry about these little things on my to-do list therefore i reckon we’re gonna give this a ranking of c which is pretty good in some contexts but not in all contexts it’s all right they’re pretty good next up we have the idea of listening to things or watching things at speed multiples this is absolutely yes this is 100 life-changing one of the most life-changing things you can do which is like when i’m when i’m listening to audiobooks on audible generally i’m
listening to them at double speed sometimes even when i’m watching tv shows if i’m watching them on my own i will just watch them at double speed or triple speed and slow down for the more interesting bits i know people like people lose their minds over this stuff but genuinely i enjoy tv shows and books more when they’re faster paced at 2x speed then i do at 1x speed like i’m sorry it’s just the way i am which is the way i’m wired it’s just more fun when something is just a little bit quicker incidentally if you haven’t gotten into audiobooks yet then you absolutely should sign up to audible who are incidentally completely accidentally very kindly sponsoring this video now i rave about audible all the time i even rave about audible especially in videos that they’re not sponsoring and so it’s very fortunate that they happen to be sponsoring this one i discovered audible in 2017 and since then i’ve listened to audiobooks for like at least an hour every day on average like i’ve clocked up months like over a month worth of watch time on my audible watch time listen time the great thing about audible is that practically every audiobook on the planet is available on audible and so like if i ever hear a book recommendation from a friend like i was at dinner with a friend yesterday he recommended me three books and i just
bought them an audible there and then and because i care about being productive but also i enjoy things more at faster speeds i tend to listen to most audiobooks at two or three x speed which means i can finish an eight hour audio book in somewhere between three and four hours and that means i can read twice as much or three times as much as i would have been able to otherwise if you’re interested in a specific recommendation i’ve recently been enjoying the non-fiction book radical candor which is all about how to have difficult conversations at work and in life and if you’re interested in fiction you should absolutely check out the mistborn series by brandon sanderson brandon sanderson is my favorite author of all time and the mistborn series is an amazing introduction to his work literally been recommending this to all my friends and 100 of my friends who have started listening to miss born on audible have messaged me afterwards saying oh my god this series is incredible why didn’t i discover it sooner so if you want to check out audible with a free 30-day trial which includes a free audio book then head over to audible.com forward slash ali abdul or if you’re in the us you can text ali abdel to 500 500 and they’ll text you your like audible download stuff and that’ll be linked in the video description as well so that’s audible.com forward slash ali abdal and thank you audible for very kindly sponsoring this video right a few more
things to talk about let’s talk about deadlines next now i’m not really a huge fan of deadlines deadlines work for a lot of people because that’s the only thing that it takes to get ourselves into gear because now we have a deadline and there are consequences but i really like the way seth godin approaches this he says in one of his blog posts deadlines work they work because they focus the mind and they create urgency they work to get us to file our taxes or finish an assignment they’re an external lever of the work that we have to do on the other hand dessert works too you don’t need an external force to encourage you to eat dessert after you finish all your vegetables it’s something you get to do not something you have to do and so i much prefer to think about stuff as get to rather than have to and that’s why i don’t really like using deadlines yes they’re effective and we’ve got to give them a c on the list because they’re useful in some circumstances but i think we do want to build a life in which we don’t have to rely on deadlines and instead we just do the stuff that we enjoy doing that we feel like we get to do that we feel like we are blessed to do next on the list we have the eisenhower matrix now the idea here is that we split up everything we have to do into one of four quadrants based on whether it’s
important or not important and based on whether it’s urgent or not urgent now i think the eisenhower matrix is absolutely fantastic i don’t really use it consciously i kind of use it subconsciously but i don’t really use it as the eisenhower matrix i don’t decide for everything i need to do is this actually important and do i actually need to do it and generally if it’s important i’ll find time to do it so we’re going to give this a ranking of d on the list like it’s it’s useful for some people but i don’t personally use it a lot myself next we have the technique of setting goals now this one is a little bit controversial because a lot of people swear by the idea of setting goals that your goals should be smart and specific and measurable and achievable and if you set your goals then you’ll manifest your future and you’ll know what you want to get to i’m not really a huge fan of goals i think they’re useful in some areas of life but generally i’m much more about the systems and about the journey rather than about the destination and so to me goals ugh i keep changing my mind about goals these days i’m writing goals as a c on the list i think they’re kind of useful in some circumstances and i certainly do have some goals but i generally prefer to have input goals
rather than output goals so i prefer to have goals that are entirely within my control and finally we get to the ultimate point of all this productivity stuff which is enjoying the journey and this is going to go right at the very top of our tier ranking this is an absolutely life-changing thing because to be honest enjoying the journey is the ultimate productivity hack because when we’re having fun when we’re having fun doing the stuff that we need to do or that we want to do then productivity just magically takes care of itself and you don’t need to motivate yourself to like sit down and watch netflix or hang out with your friends because the thing is fun and you don’t need to like worry about distraction and procrastination from doing something you genuinely enjoy and so if we can find ways to make sure we’re enjoying the journey of all the things we have to do like writing a book or filming this video or going to work studying for our exams if we can find ways to make it more fun then our productivity just gets automatically taken care of and all of these techniques all of these other techniques we’ve talked about they kind of go out the window because you don’t need to bother with them because you’re having fun doing the thing and so overall here we have the final productivity tier list you don’t have to follow all of these but i’d recommend you check out the ones in the s-class and the a-class and maybe try and incorporate them into your life if you’re not doing them already and i promise you’ll end up being more productive but more importantly you’ll also end up having a happier and more fulfilled life because you’ll be doing stuff enjoying the journey and working towards your goals and working towards stuff that you hopefully find meaningful if you found this video interesting and you want to learn some more productivity hacks and time management techniques check out this video over here which is my top 10 time management tips that i genuinely use every day in my life and if you want to have a full list of all of the productivity techniques that i’ve used in this video and all the ones that we cut out of this video there will be a notion page that you can access with a link in the video description thank you so much for watching do hit the subscribe button if you aren’t already and i’ll see you in the next video bye
hey welcome back to best grade on this channel we simplify educational tech in today’s video i’m going to show you an amazing application okay this is classroomscreen.com and really what they say is their tagline is all the classroom tools at your fingertip and it literally is all your classroom tools at your fingertip and i’m going to show you why stick around so let’s jump straight into this one go to classroomscreen.com and then go and click on the launch button so here we go let’s go and click on launch in the background you can change as you like and i’m going to show you all the settings okay we’ll go from the right hand side to the left hand side well that’s my right going towards my left i’m going to show you all of these features that are available here and these are amazing now what i’m going to show you as well yeah in conjunction how would i use this for online learning or distance learning i’m going to show you basically first and foremost choose your application suite that you’re going to use for your video conferencing so that might be zoom that might be google me it might be webex cisco webex it might be skype whatever yeah so here i’m going to go ahead i’m going to go ahead and I’m
going to go to google google me because that’s what we’re using all right go to google me and go ahead and start your google me yeah so start your google me as you would okay right here um start an instant meeting here we go we’re just gonna go to allow i’m just gonna start the meeting here we’re gonna go to join that meeting all right so we’re live here we’ve i’ve started the meeting um i don’t really whatever this doesn’t make a difference what i want to do from here is i want to go to present now and go ahead and present the entire screen so when i do present the entire screen i can go ahead and go to that webpage that i have in order to present what i’m going to find so i’m going to go ahead and do present your entire screen once i’ve done that it’s going to present everything on the screen on the on the ipad and i will go to this application okay which is classroomscreen.com so let’s go ahead and check out all the features available on this why is this the classroom tools
at your fingertips so first and foremost you know when you’re setting tasks for your students online um you know we we we’re usually working with digital planners you know you might have your your uh digital planner your phone students are going to be using you know the the calendar app on their phone they can be using something like this or something a widget on their computer or the pc or mac what’s good is when you’re setting a task okay and you’re saying hey guys you know today is the 31st and you’re going to have a deadline in two weeks time or today is the fourth of october you can have a deadline in three weeks time they can visually see that so it’s a good reminder it’s a good tool to use as a sort of learning aid to show them hey that means you’ve got you know four days or 17 days or whatever now unfortunately this calendar widget is limited you can’t link you can’t link uh your google calendars or your apple calendars or any of your work or schedule calendars to this this is just a floating widget that shows you the current month in fact
you can’t even go to the next month so it is limited in this application but again it does work as a visual aid anyway let’s get rid of that the next thing is the clock i’m not there’s nothing special about the clock i don’t really even want to talk about the clock to be honest i’m going to cut that out let’s not waste time with this clock here but what’s really really great and why i want you to talk about this application is the stop clock and the timer now look at this i can have multiple stop clocks if i keep clicking on it i can have multiple stop clocks if i’ve got different groups okay that i’ve set the tasks hey questions one two three i want uh group a to do that and you’re gonna have you know two minutes um group two you’ve got questions four and five and i want you to start you’ve got three minutes so on and so forth so you can set multiple timers here okay for your online learning so students in different groups can now you know you’ve got different timers for them to do their work let’s go ahead and pause that and get rid of these okay so you can have multiple timers
here let’s just go ahead and clear that one what i find better than a stop watch is the timer so let’s say i’ve got a question or let’s say they’re doing a reading comprehension and 10 minutes on a timer you start this and then they’ve got a reading comprehension task okay and you want to give them the instructions but because you’ve shared this screen you want your instructions to be here as well so you can go ahead and you can type your instructions here okay so follow the steps and whatever your reading comprehension you know entails here yeah so you could do bullet points or you can do even do um numbers okay so i can say step one i want you to highlight uh key findings key findings number two i want you to talk about feelings emotions number three could be blah blah blah whatever and what’s great here with this little widget here uh you you’ve got like text formatting tools as well so here i’ve got like
my bullet points i can have i can highlight this for example and i could make it you know i could change the background i could change the font color here okay i could say emotions and i can change the font for that okay for those math teachers out there chemists okay physics teachers you can add basic formulae so y equals mx plus c it said max plus c whatever you get the point you can’t add complicated formula but you can add basic formulae you can do formatting highlighting you could do superscript or you know low scripts or x squared for example i could highlight that and do squared okay i’ve got my x squared okay so find y when x squared or when x equals 14 or whatever so you’ve got your text here and you’ve got the running timer remember this is
shared that you shared your screen on your google me or your zoom or your cisco webex or whatever okay so this is brilliant for me most of the times i i want to use my apple pencil because i want to annotate i want to draw a question it’s not very useful for me as a math teacher to write instructions like this my instructions are pretty much based on drawings okay or annotations so here i’ve got an annotation tool i’ve got this drawing tool here like i can make this larger as well okay let’s clear that out so i’ve got this drawing tool and i can go ahead and do a question here or write an equation down you know i could say x squared plus 4x plus 6 equals 0 and i can say you know let’s change the font here i can say find solutions okay find the solutions or find x okay so i can give a a sort of annotated text here
i could also do something more integrated here with maybe some of the resources that i have already so maybe i have a textbook or some additional resources i can go ahead and go to the media tab okay and i can upload a picture so i’ll go here and i can upload a picture so there was a picture here somewhere where is it gone here’s a go there’s a question here that we’re doing from a kahoot and i could take this picture and i can ask them to solve this problem here so that’s really awesome i can use photos maybe i’ve done a screenshot okay or screen grab from a textbook i’m going to ask them that specific question i could go ahead and do that and i want to show you something extra here something brilliant remember we’re sharing this screen using our video conferencing app whatever it is google me or whatever okay now check this out so let’s go to youtube and i want to go ahead and i want to find a video i want to share a video with my students okay so i’m going to go ahead and click this this is the video that i want to share copy that let me just go ahead and pause
it let me go back to this then and then using that same media tab let me just uh click on this and get rid of it okay using that same media tab okay i could go ahead and do a youtube link so let me go ahead and go ahead and paste copy and paste that youtube link and look at this i can make this a larger okay like that and now i could go ahead and play this and while i’m playing it let’s get rid of some of these widgets here get rid of that i want to get rid of the text widget i’m going to keep this one because here what i can do is i i can leave this to the side in fact we’ll just clear it all out leave this to the side here okay and i’m going to resize it one second here we go i’m going to resize it like that and i can do annotations here while the students are watching this okay and i can pause it and ask them questions so for example if i play this one now so you can go ahead and drag the toggle
okay wherever you want in the video so let’s say there for example so i could pause this here now okay just go ahead and pause this okay and i could take that question so i could say okay what is pythagoras let’s go on right here pythagoras okay and i can give him a question using this video remember you’re sharing this on your google me so here you’ve got your video you’ve got your annotations i’ll show you something else which is absolutely amazing because remember we’re working on an ipad here yeah look what i can do go back to that media tab and go to webcam okay it’s gonna allow you to start a webcam look at this so not only am i playing a video and i’m annotating the students can now see me remember i’m using an ipad and now i’ve got my webcam so i’ve got my camera obviously it’s blown out and my face is looking orange or whatever but do you see the power of this this is why the tagline is there
it’s using all the tools of the classroom at your fingertips okay i know how i haven’t even finished let’s get rid of that for a minute and i’ll get rid of this video okay look at this i’ve got a qr code here that students can scan from their phone and let me go ahead and paste that um that’s the link to that video yeah so students are seeing this on their screen what they can do so if i go ahead and grab my cell phone i can go ahead and just snap that qr code remember this is from the screen that they’re seeing okay so if i snap that qr code come on where’s it going and i’ll browse that it will take them straight to the link i’ll put the volume down here okay it will take them straight to the link to whatever um you know wherever you’re sending them whether it’s a youtube video it’s taking them straight to that real life pythagoras okay so they can watch that on their own devices and you can give them a timer so let’s say for example you give them a timer how long is that video that video is five minutes so you give them
you know like a six minute timer and they and then you know they’re doing their work quietly they’re what they’re watching the video quietly and you’ve got a timer up there and they’ve got that link through the qr code so that’s brilliant as well okay that’s brilliant now let’s say they are doing some silent work and you want to keep on talking so what you can do then is you can use the work symbols these are brilliant look at this yeah so you’ve got a silent one you’ve got whisper you’ve got ask a neighbor and then you have work together so i want like a silent one uh and what i can do with this if i click on these uh the cog the settings i can go ahead and make it transparent so now you don’t see the round circle you just see this in the corner saying silent be quiet yeah people are working for five minutes now that might be distracting you might actually want to have the color you can have it red white yellow whatever you want okay let’s we can just resize that again
another thing is you can change the background now you can change the background like a solid color like that that is less distracting for everyone okay or you could actually i had one up here and i liked it quite a lot what was it it was the bridge it was this one here i like this one um it’s just serene it’s calming you know has a calming effect so anyway there’s a lot more that you can explore this traffic lights traffic lights are brilliant so i can say guys i’m gonna leave this traffic light here okay uh what it means is basically don’t ask any questions if it’s on red if it’s on orange i’m priming you that means within two minutes i am going to ask you i’ll open up question sessions okay and then green is good to go i’ll start asking questions so that you can use traffic lights there’s also a sound level this is good for like in class okay this is a good flight if you’re in class you can do like sensitivity and then maximum noise this is like a sound meter okay you can even do an
alarm here that’s not useful for online distance learning anyway you’ve got other things like dice so hey guys i want a random number uh if i put you in groups and number you off or whatever you can click on this random number generator the best one by far though is the random name selector so let me show you this basically if i write a couple of names here adam bradley or brad whatever charlie let’s just get some names here okay uh dan emma so i can just do a random name selector so here’s gonna choose okay so bradley you’re up i’m gonna ask you a question how do you solve this problem here is pythagoras you’ve got three and four i wanna find out what my c is going to be okay or i can go ahead and i can choose someone else okay can charlie can you can you help out bradley what would you need to do in order to solve this problem yeah you know so and so forth and remember you’ve got
two minutes on the clock if you haven’t you can go ahead and watch that video and you keep giving them instructions at this point you probably wouldn’t want to change that to ask an ava or work together okay so all the tools of the classroom at your fingertips this is absolutely astonishing there was one more thing that i want to show you here the background okay you can actually change the whole background to be a webcam so check this out the whole background has become your webcam so now you can be talking having widgets all over your face while you’re still recording this remember this you’re sharing on um your google me or your cisco webex or your zoom application let’s just go with a black background mind you i like that let’s bring that bridge back in okay if you know what bridge that is comment in the section below you get some bonus points yeah okie dokie so that’s a very quick review of classroomscreen.com check it out for yourself it’s absolutely free there is a pro version where you can save like your class list and some of your parameters for your profile otherwise it’s completely free to use consider subscribing there’s so many more videos i’ve made uh comment section below for anything that you might be looking forward to okay turn notifications and as always i’ll see you in the next one
did you know that you can turn articles into videos and make five to six hundred dollars a day and ultimately make as much as 16 and a half thousand dollars per month in today’s video i will show you how to take an article like this as an example about push-ups or about any other topic and then easily convert it into a video similar to this video here which you can see has had 1.2 million views in just eight months i have been making money on youtube now for about three years and in the last 28 days on youtube i have made seven thousand dollars even though i have published zero videos so seven thousand dollars passive from the videos that i’ve uploaded onto youtube without making a single video this is just ad revenue i also make a lot more than this from affiliate marketing on youtube my channel is not unique though there is another channel just as an example this channel here weighs and how that has had 1.71 million subscribers
they produce very simple videos just one video per week that is about six to seven minutes long some are even five minutes and if we look at their stats on the website called socialblade so here we can type in waze and how and that will bring up their statistics you can see that on a daily basis this channel is making about a hundred thousand views and from that they’re getting up to five to seven hundred dollars a day in ad revenue of course they could also be monetizing this with affiliate marketing but this channel is making up to sixteen and a half thousand in just display ad revenue from the ads shown on their videos now the biggest problem for any person who wants to make money on youtube is creating videos after all if you could easily create tons and tons of videos you could very easily become successful on youtube because it takes time to make videos it’s the same for me
it’s the same for this channel here you know we all need a way to create videos quickly and one of the best ways to do this is to convert existing articles from all over the internet into cool videos on youtube very quickly in this video i’m going to show you how you can do this in about 15 to 20 minutes per video how you can go from an article on someone else’s website to having your own youtube video and then you can upload it and then you can make money from youtube so let’s get started so step one is to click the link in the description below and go to this page of this software called in video if you go to the nvidia website via my link in the description below you will be able to get a free account in video have several pricing tiers and you can start out on the free pricing tier which allows you to do a lot of things so there are three pricing tiers for nvidia there is free business
and unlimited with a free plan you will get access still to four and a half thousand templates i’m going to show you in just a second what kind of templates you can access and the videos that you produce will just have a watermark but that’s that’s totally okay if you later decide to upgrade to a business or unlimited plan you can remove that watermark and if you use my link and my coupon which is in the description below you will actually get 50 of this plan as well so it won’t be 15 a month it’ll be seven and a half dollars a month just check the link below and the coupon below as well but you can totally start with a free plan and the only drawback will be that your final output video will just have a little watermark but you can use four and a half thousand handcrafted templates you will get access to the stock media library etc so you can you can actually start out on the free plan once you’ve opened your account on in video you will be taken to the main screen that looks like this and
the first thing you’ll want to do is use this option here that’s called text to video so once you click here you will see that you can convert any text to an engaging video so for the purposes of this example today let’s say you want to create a video similar to these what happens when you do push ups every day for a month okay so let’s say you’ve found an idea for a video you can see that these kind of videos are getting a lot of views 1.2 million views in eight months and you want to create a similar video all alright so how do you go about this well inside in video once you go to this option text the video you want to choose the 16 by nine format because this is the format that youtube of course uses and then you can choose any of these pre-made video templates you can browse through and find the template that you prefer the most you can really go with any of them let’s just say we choose this one here called graceful and we click on it here you will see a little preview of what the typical slide looks like this is going to work just fine for us so we can click here use this template on the next screen you will see a couple
of options so option one says add your script here for the video option two says add your url here so we’re going to use this option here and this option too will allow you to paste the url of any article and import the script for the video into in video for that you will need to find an article that talks about benefits of push-ups that you can use as the base for your video so once you do a search you can take any of these articles here so let’s take a look at this article here that’s called 10 benefits of push-ups okay 10 massive benefits of push-ups so this is a good format because it’s got headlines and then a little bit of a description for each of the main benefits of the push up so we can just take this url over here okay and we will insert it into nvidia now a bit of a word of caution you don’t want to completely copy word by word everything that is said in this article because
that’s called plagiarism and may potentially lead you into trouble if you just steal the content luckily there is a very cool way to kind of repurpose this content and change the wording that i’m gonna show you now so option two let’s insert that article url into here click fetch and nvidia will now go and read this article and it will pre-populate the script and the basis for your video for you okay so now that our article has been fetched we can click this option here that says auto summarize to create a nice automatic summary of all of these sentences that will be done in a format that is great for video so let’s click auto summarize and you can now see that we’ve got what is called scene so we have scene 1 which is header then scene 2 which is a bit of a summary of the introduction scene 3 which is the next important part of the video etc so what nvidia has done is created all
these scenes it has created 30 scenes for us completely in an automated fashion and each of these scenes will effectively become a slide now guys remember what i mentioned just earlier you cannot simply take someone else’s content and use it you need to reword it so each of these scenes needs to be changed you can either reword each of the scenes yourself or you can use a program i’m going to show you both ways of doing this so scene one which is the header the opening of our video where it says benefits of doing push-ups let’s reword it a little bit we can just change it to say huge benefits of doing push-ups every day then scene two which is this um sentence that says perhaps one of the easiest exercise movements the standard push-up activates nearly every muscle in your body which yields far more than tone muscles and increased endurance so we want to take this and you can either rewrite it yourself so you can literally
just um change this yourself so delete and start typing yourself uh you know push shots are one of the best x so you can reword this yourself just so that you don’t get into any trouble by stealing someone else’s content okay or you can use a software to automatically reword this which is really nice and cool as well so i’m just going to press ctrl c on my keyboard to to copy this okay so select this and press ctrl c to copy it and then you can use this tool called quillbot quillboard.com and it will reword the article for you it’s really cool and there is a free version of it which you can use as well and now take this scene wording okay so this scene over here ctrl c to copy it and then paste it into here and click this button that says paraphrase over here and quillbot will rewrite it for you now notice how different this is it hasn’t just changed some of the words it has
actually paraphrased the sentence and changed the sequence of the words in the sentence so now it says the classic push-up is one of the simplest training actions since it engages practically every muscle in the body resulting in far more than just stone muscles and enhanced stamina all right now not every single sentence will end up sounding like it’s perfect english so you may need to just make slight changes but this actually sounds quite okay i might just need to make one change here where it says the classic push-up is one of the simplest training actions so i might just say one of the simplest exercises so let’s paste that into notepad i’m just going to change that to say is one of the simplest exercises so this is because okay it engages practically every muscle in your body resulting in far more than just stone muscles and enhanced stamina so now this sounds like this is proper english so let’s now copy this and paste it back into nvidia for this scene so you will then want to go ahead and you will want to do this for every one of these scenes so reword it
so for example for scene 3 we’re going to take it ctrl c to copy insert it into here click paraphrase wait until it paraphrases it and then double check and make sure that it’s okay and copy it back into video so now it says this exercise requires the use of virtually every major muscle in your body to complete the action so once again we just want to change this a little bit so would not be to complete the action but to complete this exercise okay this exercise like that so i’m just going through and basically slightly amending what quillbot has done for us quillbot does most of the work it’s a really really cool tool let’s go back into nvidia and change that into c3 so i’m not going to bore you you don’t have to watch me do this for every single uh scene you can go ahead and do this but very important do not just copy and steal someone else’s text change it either rewrite it yourself or use quillboard to rewrite it alright now after you have done every single scene the next step is to click this button
here at the bottom that says go to storyboard and that will create what is called a storyboard for you where you can edit and finalize the layout of your video alright so then as you can see nvidia has created the first draft of our video and we have 30 scenes so this is scene number one out of the 30 scenes that we have created all right so it’s all been done automatically we can preview each of these scenes like this it looks nice but of course uh this hasn’t actually got any videos of the push-ups but this is okay the other scenes have got some videos of push-ups we can now kind of go ahead and edit uh most of these to make sure that they’re all making sense along with the titles so first of all on the left hand side we can go and put in push-up click search and you will see that all the different media that’s available
comes up okay so we can take this very first one that um for example this one over here we can drag and drop the media about the push-up and this will automatically insert this video about push-ups see so there is a guy doing the push-ups okay we can choose trim video to fit scene just to make sure that it’s five five uh 5.5 seconds and then click done and then let’s get rid of this media over here and just like that we have made this edit so see we now have the text and the video behind it that is actually making sense okay then we can go into here this is our kind of second scene we can preview it we can see that here is a guy kind of doing push-ups here and we’ve got we’ve got the text over here as well explaining push-ups so this actually works for us this third scene has also got these guys so we can choose something else we can just take another one of these push-up videos
all right and we can drag that over here again we can click trim video to fit scene that’s click done get rid of the other one and now this particular scene [Music] all right it is all making sense because there is actually a push up here as well so you’ll just need to go ahead and continue substituting the videos that nvidia populates for you with any of these videos on the left hand side now you’ll notice a couple of things here you will see that there is remove watermark and that some of these videos and clips have got istock and kind of like the premium icon on them you can actually upgrade for free if you use the link in the description below you can upgrade for free so just click this button upgrade for free and where it’s got either monthly or yearly plan for example if you choose the monthly plan as i said if you use my coupon you can get 50 off
so you can either choose the business or the unlimited plan and you can try either of them for free for seven days so you can do this for seven days and make as many videos as you want so just click on one of these and see where it says have a coupon code make sure that you use a coupon code that is cb50 cb50 it’s also in the description below you need to use my link for that as well and if you click apply you will see that you’ve instantly got a 50 discount so instead of 30 a month it’s now 15 a month and if you pay yearly of course it’s even cheaper instead of 180 per year it becomes 90 per year okay so just make sure you use my coupon for that so as you’re editing each of these scenes while you’re editing you can preview what each of these scenes will look like just by clicking the play button and you can also see what your whole clip would look like by clicking here preview all that will give you kind of like a preview of the overall video
all right like this you can see that some of the text is just a little bit too long so you can certainly edit that and just kind of shorten it so maybe just benefits of doing push-ups okay like this to make sure we don’t lose any of the text just make it a bit shorter once again here see it says text is too long split as suggested so maybe we just delete this bit and make it the classic push-up is one of the simplest exercises like this okay so if we after these changes we preview this now uh this will give us an idea whether it looks okay now alright so this is a lot better now it fits now this fits as well it says classic push-up is one of the simplest exercises as you go through and edit all of these scenes it usually takes about 10-15 minutes so it’s quite a quick process to make sure that your text is okay
and to choose the appropriate video footage you can also use the images if you don’t want to use the video footage you can actually search the images so once again i can just put in a push-up for example here and if i click search that will bring in all of the images that you can use as well so that’s an option for you as well then you can also look at the music so if you want to change the music that this video uses or if you want no music you can change that through in video as well and just like that quite simply and easily you have created your youtube video you basically taken an article this article here and you have turned this article into a video once you’re happy with how your video is looking you can download it and share so just click this button here download and share and that will allow you to export your video onto your computer so the free plan allows for 720p
resolution but as i showed earlier in the video if you click the link in the description below and if you use my coupon cb50 you can actually upgrade to a premium plan with a 50 discount using my coupon and then you’ll be able to upload with 1080p definition and you will also remove all of the watermarks that will appear on your video as well i also highly recommend that you join the nvidia facebook group they have about 24 000 members so just go into facebook search and under groups type in video and join this group called video marketing creation hard by nvidia okay in in this group you can get feedback on all of your videos you can get help support um just sort of ask any questions it’s a very engaged group 24 000 members in there so guys just to summarize the process once again is to find a video idea you can find that by searching what other videos are popular on youtube the second step is to find an article on google because if you want to convert
an article into a video it’s best to actually find that article first and then import it and into in video showing the steps that are shown to you before earlier in this video you can import the whole article from a website into in video very importantly after that you have to make sure that you change the script so don’t just use someone else’s content either rewrite the each of the scene wording yourself inside in video or use a tool such as quillboard to automatically rewrite it and make it unique so that you’re not stealing someone else’s content once that is done go into the editor change each of these scenes so you can change the underlying video media or audio media or even images that only takes about 10 to 15 minutes to process for every single scene in your video and then you export the video out of in video onto your computer and then your video is ready to be uploaded to youtube you can also use these videos of course on your website you can share them on facebook any way you want this is just a very simple and quick process to turn your articles into videos anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes and doing something very similar i showed you a channel that makes as much as 16 and a half thousand dollars a month using and producing similar videos if you guys want to learn another super powerful way of making money on youtube make sure to watch this video over here smash the like button and subscribe to my youtube channel thank you so much for watching i’ll see in the next video
hello folks welcome back to the key productive YouTube channel on today’s feature we’re diving into the top 17 project management software’s on the market right now I wanted to give you guys all of the solutions so let’s dive into today’s video so as you can imagine project management applications can help teams to get things done and there are so many solutions it’s really actually quite daunting when you look at them and sometimes whether you are someone that is looking at another project manager for you in your team or you’re looking at a brand new one for a new team maybe you’ve been assigned some of the research it’s important to find the right suggestion for your team so one of my biggest suggestions before we begin is to make sure you look at your team’s workflow and how your team work before you necessarily jump in with the project manager if your team works well with
agile there are great agile project managers if they previously work with Gantt charts very well then Gantt charts are a great recommendation inside a project manager if they are the core feature so folks I’ve hand selected 17 so let’s dive into them ok so just before we begin there’s no particular order to this so if we start from one it doesn’t mean they’re the best there are more suitable ones as we go throughout this so the first on our list is Flo Flo is the project manager designed for startups and small teams it was created back in 2010 apparently has two and a half thousand teams using it currently relatively priced about $7 50 per user which is fairly reasonable now the special features of Flo include a task list view which is something that a lot of people like in the application they also do have the Kanban view as well and it is also very popular with agile teams now what I think is people like Flo because of its simple design and also
very intuitive user interface okay so number two it’s a hat an aha is spelt a high J with an exclamation mark now this tool is recommended for those who want specialist experience for road mapping now inside of our hand you can build these road maps are very similar to Gantt charts but allowing you to see a project from start to finish in a very visual fashion this software was launched back in 2013 and it’s priced on the much higher side at $74 per user per month apparently we have 5000 teams using this application and the features that jump out are the resource allocation allowing you to have a list of your resources and allocate them to specific individuals or different areas or projects or roadmaps that you have built it also doesn’t just have the road map ability there are different viewing options so that you
and your team can change the way a certain road map looks like and also change it to a different style of view so if you’re someone just use road maps before maybe a product manager or even someone in marketing that wants to visually plot everything out this might be the application for you okay so number three and that is rike now rankest out with aw at the start and it is a very popular solution for ms mid-sized teams they recommend it for teams that are bigger than 20 plus it has fantastic viewing options that allow you to change the view of any of the projects you’re working on and I would say it’s a great all-rounder now they have 44 integrations which a lot of people like to have especially if they connect up with existing apps they already use it has some great commenting abilities so that you and your team can leave highlights on images and pictures even videos of things that need to be edited or improved now Reich was founded
back in 2007 and it has a very reasonable price tag of roughly $10 per user per month which seems pretty reasonable so number four is something that I wasn’t really 100% sure of including and that is notion now an ocean isn’t say a project manager traditionally it’s a wiki style application it’s really designed for mid-sized teams and personal users as well a lot of freelancers using this to help plan and organize their life different aspects of their life and the killer futures are definitely the databases you can create different type of databases different type of views and you can create it from tables to galleries to calendars and there’s even a timeline view planned now what’s cool inside the ocean and what deficits from others is you build the tool you want to use so you can use templates or you can actually build from scratch which a lot of people like to do no notion was founded more in a sort of bracket of 2016-2017 and it’s about ten dollars a month per user but a lot of people
liking it for that wiki style project management type experience okay so number five is teamwork and definitely a very strong sounding name for project management application this is great for mid-sized teams as well as freelancers and it’s very similar to Reich and task well two other project management applications apparently they have twenty thousand companies using it and it was created back in 2007 now I would say some of its features are great for all-round use but they do have this workload allocation view where for example if you have a bit of workload that is overwhelming you or overwhelming some of your team and you want to unblock people in your team or yourself you can allocate it to other people but it doesn’t they’re very different fashion to some of the other project managers and perfect for teams that are looking to spread out some of their work and utilize this tool it’s also part of a suite of applications you can also get a chat a CRM and other tools along with
it they also have this portfolio view where you can see all of your projects and glance which apparently is very helpful for project managers to see the progress of each project so number six one that you’ve probably already heard of and that is asana created by an ex facebook employee it has grown really rapidly since 2008 when it launched it has 70,000 companies using it and roughly priced it’s about 11 dollars per user per month but there is a free experience along with it too so it has some great features it’s got the board features which comes with all plans timeline which is a premium feature but it allows you to see stuff in linearly which is lovely but if you’re looking for more traditional project manager this is gonna fit your bill better than some of the other ones number seven you’ve probably already heard of it and it is Trello very popular for its Kanban abilities it has a great range of tools and a fairly reasonable price it’s $12 54 the business class plan which is
fairly reasonable but you can get started for free it has some great features like power up so you can connect all these wild integrations it’s got a great library of integrations it’s actually developed and owned by a company called Atlassian who create other software called JIRA and confluence it was created back in 2011 and has over 20 million users worldwide which is a fantastic size and definitely a great community especially when it comes to templates okay so number eight you’ve probably heard of it it’s called Monday comm and it is being put out all over the web especially in the advertising many of you will have noticed it was previously called day pulse but it’s been around since 2012 now this is much more suitable for sort of mid to large size teams and they have a free trial but the pricing starts from about $39 per month per user just a note on the pricing it definitely is something to look at because their pricing varies per the amount of user
you’re planning to use it with so do check that out now one of the things that it out to sound for is the dashboards and flexibility the dashboards allow you to see a glance of your projects and is very popular I was very lucky to go over to Israel to meet the team and they were showing some some of their dashboards that they actually use in their departments which was very impressive being able to see that data especially if you and your team want to sort of pinpoint what the focus is and also they’re doing a lot more work on the automations and workflows so that you and your team can connect these automatic actions whether it’s emailing out to MailChimp etc and being able to connect up with other applications that you already you number nine is favreau it’s more for startups and small teams but it is a rising star for entrepreneurial types it has the ability to create these little boards allowing you to create these collections but it allows you to sort of plan that the way you use these applications giving you backlogs and
gyre and the collections on the left-hand side so you can monitor it’s a lot more reasonable about six dollars fifty per user which makes it to twelve dollars for every two users which is so reasonable it was created back in 2016 in Sweden if you need to know that number 10 it is nas B nas been have been around for absolutely donkey’s founded by Michael Slowinski in 2007 over in Poland the application has been grown really rapidly with lots of testimonials from the folks like Michael Hyatt no nas B is more of a basic application it takes advantages of lists and basic project management but it’s become a big and popular experience for many people they do have a planned release of nonce be teams allowing more and more teams to work in a more of a project management setting but it does also have a Linux application which many project managers don’t have so number 11 is meister task
no this is much more suited for task management lovers those who like Kanban and also solar users as well a lot of people call this the very attractive Trello because of the Kanban use and and all of the colors that this application throws into the mix it does have a few features that a lot of people like like tasks relationship allowing you connect up tasks that you’ve created so that it doesn’t block anyone in your team also time tracking which is something that some project managers pad but it’s also a very big bonus especially if you don’t want to pay for a time tracking software on top of that and automations as well now this application is priced a lot lower than some of the other ones and it’s a great all-rounder at nine dollars fifty and you even have a sister company called mind Meister okay so number twelve and that is hive now this is more suitable for smaller size teams to medium sized teams but a lot of people like it because it blends a project manager with an application like slack
allowing you to have real-time chat function with you and your team allowing you to create channels per apartment which you can then have conversations in as well as all the project management abilities there’s even a Gantt chart and over 1,000 integrations which is very high and something that I know a lot of people like if they’re very into their integrations connecting to their project management software now was founded back in 2015 and in 2019 they actually closed a ten million dollar Series A funding which is great news its price really reasonable as well at about twelve dollars per user per month so number thirteen it is Zoho projects now this is much more of a traditional project management application and it’s quite popular with construction and security firms for its reliability and also the ability to access on mobile devices as well as the fact that if you pay for the Zoho suite this can be an application that is
included it also has two other features that a lot of people like using and that’s timesheets and feeds feeds allows you to see updates from you and your team and timesheet allows you to see where your team has been spending their time utilizing the time tracking tool and also completed tasks now Zoho projects also who suite was founded back in 1996 so they’ve been doing software for a fair while I know many of the community here and keep productive or actually big fans of their software and it’s priced fairly reasonably if you wanted to get this outside of the suite it’s gonna cost you fifteen dollars per user per month so in a sort of medium bracket pricing so number four team and that is Basecamp now base camps talked about a lot and I always refer to it as the Patagonia of project management applications and the main reason behind that is because it’s very values driven their founder and their team are very
much applicators of less work and more productive time now Jason Fried’s written a fair amount of books as well on this topic this application doesn’t let down allowing you to have this Basecamp like experience in having everything together you can essentially get your chat your schedule your manager your calendar application all in one application and they do stay on their website their dislike combining many of these inside one so you don’t necessarily have to pay for site per user and their pricing is fairly high but again it’s a flat rate for every single team at 9.19 $99 per month for using this application and that’s however size team you want there is also a personal plan which may get you started which you can use up to 20 users there are some limitations on it but at the same time it might get you the feel and experience for your Basecamp layout now base camp was founded back in 1997 and has five over finally thousand
companies using it right now now number 15 its team Gantt now I always thought this was gonna be quite expensive it’s actually $8 per month which is a lot lower than I thought and it actually allows you to create these Gantt charts but it’s a specialist in Gantt charts so it’s got a lot of abilities that some of the other Gantt charts may not have it has also got time tracking abilities as well as planning tools like planning estimations of your work and also time to complete as I said this is more of a specialist applications than I see medium to large teams getting to use this one so number 16 I don’t know why I put this that far down the list but click up is a fantastic all-rounder it’s actually one that always comes up in conversation whenever I typically rent recommend a all-round project management application it’s great for freelancers large teams and also medium-sized teams as well but allows you to arrange different things and one of its things that people love
it is flexibility you can add all types of documents to it in their pro plan which is priced really reasonably as well and also you get to create these dashboards allowing you to see your project progress and all that you need to know about the project in one glance which is very similar to Monday comm they’ve recently added Docs allowing you to create this wiki like experience inside of your projects which is very popular with those who are looking to I guess plan and coordinate information around their world now it is priced at $5 per month which is so reasonable and that’s for unlimited user which is good and they even have this deal feature where if you were to say make him a deal on a certain price then that’s definitely good and you could check them one out in the link in description number 17 and my voice is probably gonna go is freed camp now this is another great all-rounder definitely recommended for medium to larger teams and in how similar abilities to Reich and allowing you to plan your project in multiple different views but it also has a wiki a CRM and also task abilities too
you can create an issue tracker within it and it’s pricing is really reasonable guys it’s something like seven dollars forty nine per month and they also have this pricing for minimalist solo uses at one dollar forty nine which is really reasonable especially if you and your team probably looking to get started on it before necessarily jumping into deep end so folks those were my top seventeen project management applications as I said I probably will do more specialist applications soon so maybe Gantz all-rounders etc and more and more project management experiences but I hope you enjoyed this please do let me know in the comments below which application you decided to go and use please like this video so that other people can go and find it and if you’re new here subscribe it would be amazing to have you so folks thank you very much and I’ll talk to you all very very soon which is ever bye

today I’m going to show you exactly how to use content marketing to get more traffic more social shares more backlinks and most important of all more customers in fact these are the same strategies and techniques that I used to get two million people to visit my site last year so if you want to get better results from your content you’ll love this step-by-step guide let’s dive right in when I launched my first blog way back in 2009 I’ve read the same advice again and again you know the stuff I’m talking about published short 500 word blog posts make sure to keep your blog updated with fresh content and you need to publish a new post at least once a week that stuff might’ve works back in 2018 but it doesn’t work today in fact I grew my blog into one of the most popular marketing blogs on the planet by doing the exact opposite of what these so-called experts recommend instead of short blog posts I only publish long-form comprehensive guides instead of keeping my site updated with
fresh content I only publish a new post every four to six weeks and instead of publishing something because it’s Tuesday I only release content if it’s world-class stuff with that let’s get into the specific steps starting with step number one find a proven topic your first step is to find a topic but not just any topic a topic with a proven track record here’s exactly how to do it first check out content from one of your competitors that’s done really well in other words go to a competing blog and keep an eye out for posts that have lots of social shares comments or both for example I’m in the SEO niche and one of my main competitors is Moz calm and a while back I was looking through some of their latest content and I noticed that blog posts about site audits tended to do really well so I created a post called the ultimate SEO site audit and because this post was based on a proven topic it quickly racked up social shares and backlinks plus my new post ranks on
our second step find a keyword for SEO so you’ve found a topic that your target customer is interested in and now it’s time to find the exact keyword that they use to search in Google here’s how first use YouTube and Google Suggest this is an old-school keyword research strategy that I still use all the time to use it start to type in one of the topics you found in step number one and then write down keywords that Google suggests and you can repeat the same process in YouTube Bing Amazon and more next use searches related to to find longtail keywords do you ever notice that there is this searches related to area at the bottom of Google search results well I didn’t either until recently and I quickly realized that it’s a goldmine of keyword ideas for example if you search for Paleo diet and scroll to the bottom of the results you get a list of these awesome keywords the best part these keywords aren’t from
some third-party tool they come straight from Google moving right along to step number three choose a content format personally when I hear the word content I automatically think blog post but blog posts are just one of many types of content formats that are out there besides blog posts there are YouTube videos native videos lead magnets ebooks infographics podcast quizzes and more of all those is there one format that works not really the key here is to choose a format that works best for you are you an awesome writer focus on blog posts do you love getting in front of the camera then make a video or maybe you’re an amazing designer in that case you’d want to create a piece of visual content in fact you don’t even need to stick to one format you could take the same topic and cover it using several different formats for example a few years ago I published this link building guide and that post did really well so I decided to make a youtube video on that same exact topic in that video brings in 8,000 views
every month the big takeaway there’s no perfect content format for any topic so choose a concept format that you can crush and move on to step number four which is publish an amazing piece of content let’s face it it’s harder than ever to get your content to stand out in fact according to WordPress there are two point five million blog posts published every single day and they also report that page views are down for the first time in 12 years that’s the bad news the good news is is that it’s still totally possible to create awesome content that stands out but for your content to stand out among the millions of blog posts that come out every day and needs to be amazing here’s how to do it first publish insanely actionable content it doesn’t matter if your site is about cars or cats people want content that they can use right away for example when I was doing research for this video I watched a bunch of other videos about content marketing and they were mostly full of
fluff and filler advice for example they tell you to create a process for creating content but they never showed you how to create that process that’s why I worked really hard to make every technique in this video super actionable next use lots of examples in your content when it comes to content there’s one thing I found to be true people love examples in fact research shows that examples make learning significantly easier which is why I include lots of examples in every post now do examples take a little bit more work than just saying do this yep is it worth it absolutely finally I recommend focusing on your con you X when most people think about user experience they think about things like software but as it turns out content has a user experience – for example look at this post the text is all squished together which makes it really hard to read that’s bad content UX on the other hand
look at this blog post it has big font and lots of white space which makes the post easy to read and skim that’s good content UX to be clear content UX isn’t just for blog content if you have a podcast content UX is the quality of your audio and if you’re making a video content UX is that videos production value in other words when you make it easy for people to consume your content it has a much better chance of driving targeted traffic to your website and now it’s time for step number five optimize your content for SEO there are literally dozens of ways to optimize your content for SEO but in my experience these three strategies are working best right now first optimize your title tag for click-through rate as you may have heard Google uses your site’s click-through rate as a ranking signal in other words the more people click on your site in the search results the better it will generally rank that’s why you want to make your title tag super enticing to
click on for example my original title for this post didn’t have any brackets or parentheses but I realized that I can make this title even more compelling by adding step by step case study in parentheses so that’s what I did next use your keyboard a few times in your content especially in the first 150 words for example you can see that it used my target keyword SEO audit a handful of times in my post including the first 150 words I’m not keyword stuffing instead I’m just including my target keyword where it makes sense that way Google can see that my page is about how to do an SEO audit finally link out to other websites this industry study found a clear correlation between external links and Google rankings so whenever it makes sense link out to resources that will help your readers learn more about the topics that you cover in your article for example in this pose I linked out to a handful of authority sites in case someone wants to dig deeper into that topic which leads us to
a key step that a lot of people skip over step number six content promotion there’s no other way for me to say this if you’re serious about content marketing you need to learn about content promotion when I say promote your content I don’t mean sharing your content on social media sites like Facebook or Twitter even though that can help I’m talking about strategically promoting your content so it gets lots of shares links and traffic the question is how do you do it here are three strategies that are working great for me right now first up we have content roundups roundups are blog posts that curate the best content from that week and if you can get your link in front of someone that runs a roundup you have a good chance of getting a link the best part there are roundups in pretty much every niche Under the Sun for example here’s a roundup in the wine niche and because your content actually makes their roundup better you don’t need to beg for a link our next promotional strategy is to promote your content in your email newsletter when it comes to content promotion I’ve tried it all and in my
experience nothing beats email for example I published this post on my blog late last year and to promote it I sent out an email to my email subscribers I also shared it on twitter my tweak up 1710 clicks and my newsletter 14,000 113 clicks so yeah if you want to get lots of eyeballs on every piece of content that you publish you definitely want to let your email subscribers know you just published something last up we have boosted facebook posts over the last few months I’ve spent thousands of dollars on Facebook ads and the number one lesson I learned from that experience is this retargeting is legit for example I recently boosted this Facebook post and because I used retargeting to reach people that already visited my website I only paid 67 cents per click which in my niche digital marketing is three to five times less than you’d normally pay nice and now it’s time for our second to last step step number seven track your
performance so you just published an amazing piece of content it’s based on a proven topic has great content UX you promoted it using the strategies that I just share with you the question is how do you know if all that stuff actually worked here are two metrics that I recommend focusing on the first thing I recommend looking at is traffic at the end of the day the whole point this content marketing thing is to get more traffic so if your content isn’t bringing in more traffic it’s probably time to switch things up that said content marketing and SEO can take time to kick in sometimes months for example look at the traffic numbers from the early days of backlinko as you can see it took about six months for things to really take off and if I give up early on because content wasn’t working I wouldn’t have seen this huge traffic spike that got me going next up we have conversions ROI business goals KPIs whatever you want to call it basically with this metric you’re answering the question is content actually helping us sell more stuff as you may already know
you can measure conversions in Google Analytics and if you see conversions moving up along with traffic that’s a sign that your content marketing is really working that said sometimes it’s hard to measure those indirect sales that come from content marketing for example the number of conversions that I get that come directly from YouTube are really low and if I only looked at google analytics I’d probably say you know what YouTube is a waste of time but when I dug a little bit deeper I discovered that my YouTube channel is a huge source of subscribers and sales in fact lots of new customers specifically set my YouTube channel as a main reason that they decide to enroll in one of my courses which tells me that my YouTube videos are paying off which leads us to our eighth and final step scale your content marketing so at this stage your content marketing is working you’re getting more traffic leads and sales than ever before which is great but at this point you’re probably wondering how do i scale this stuff before I answer that question a quick word of warning I
don’t recommend scaling by pumping out a bunch of blog posts that’s what most people do at this stage and it hurts them instead of continually putting out awesome stuff they start to focus on quantity and because their content isn’t as good as it used to be people stop reading it I’m sure you can think of a blog that you used to follow that fell into this trap so yeah you definitely want a scale but you don’t want your quality to suffer because of it for example I’ve only published 63 total posts on the backlinko blog and those 63 posts bring in three hundred ninety two thousand four hundred and forty one visits every month my secret I focus on scaling quality not quantity I’ll explain a few years ago I published this Google ranking factor study this post was totally different than the type of stuff I was putting out not only that unlike a list post or a case study I couldn’t do it myself I had to assemble a team in the end that study did really well it generated a huge traffic spike in its first week plus that single post has been linked to from over 2000 different domains there you have it my eighth step content strategy if you liked this video make sure to subscribe to my youtube channel right now just click on the subscribe button below this video and if you want exclusive SEO techniques that I only share with subscribers head over to back Luka comm and hop on the newsletter it’s free now I want to hear from you which strategy from today’s video are you gonna try first are you gonna try to increase your click-through rate or start scaling quality let me know by leaving a comment below right now is it okay okay and it is just an injustice to this industry stuff can you hear that and sure yeah first four just in case now do
